Five popular destinations you can reach by rental car from Tirana and Rinas, with approximate driving times.
Tirana is in the centre of the country, so most major destinations can be reached within a day. The times below are approximate and depend on traffic and season.
1. Durrës (about 45 minutes)
The nearest coastal city, with its Roman amphitheatre, promenade and long sandy beaches.
2. Krujë (about 45 minutes)
Skanderbeg's castle and the traditional bazaar, with views over the plain to the sea. Very close to our location in Fushë-Krujë.
3. Berat (about 2 hours)
The "City of a Thousand Windows", a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its inhabited castle and Ottoman quarters.
4. Shkodër (about 2 hours)
Rozafa Castle, Lake Shkodër and the starting point for the Albanian Alps, Theth and Valbona.
5. Ksamil and Butrint (about 4–5 hours)
The crystal-clear Ionian waters and the Butrint archaeological park. We recommend staying at least two nights.
